Privacy Policy

InkScope is a Chrome extension that analyzes the article currently visible in the user's active tab. Its analysis runs locally with Chrome's built-in AI model.

Information InkScope handles

When the InkScope side panel is open, the extension temporarily reads the active page's URL, title, and article text so it can extract the article and produce a summary and source-transparency analysis. This processing is necessary for InkScope's single user-facing purpose.

InkScope does not intentionally read form entries, passwords, cookies, authentication information, payment information, or private browser history. It does not create a browsing-history database.

How information is used

The active article content is used only to generate the results shown in the InkScope side panel. InkScope may automatically repeat this analysis when the user navigates to another article while the side panel remains open.

Local processing, retention, and sharing

• Article content and generated results are processed locally within Chrome.
• InkScope does not send article content or generated results to the developer, an external server, or a third-party AI service.
• InkScope does not store article content or generated results after the current side-panel session.
• InkScope has no analytics, advertising, tracking, user accounts, or developer-operated backend.
• InkScope does not sell, rent, share, or use user data for advertising, credit decisions, or unrelated purposes.

Chrome may download and manage its built-in AI model according to Google's own terms and privacy practices. Chrome's documentation states that content processed by the on-device model is not sent to Google or a third party.

Permissions

InkScope uses website access on HTTP and HTTPS pages to extract the active article selected by the user and to support automatic re-analysis while its side panel is open. It uses Chrome's sidePanel permission to display the analysis beside the current page. InkScope requests no storage permission.

Limited Use

InkScope's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data access is limited to providing InkScope's prominently disclosed article-analysis feature.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Material changes to data practices will also be disclosed through the Chrome Web Store listing or the extension interface as required.
